Chamber Scholarship Recipients Named
The Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce announced the award of two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who are college bound. Both of the awardees, Alexandra Hasan and Caralin Schneider, are graduating from Maine South High School.
Alexandra Hasan will be attending the University of California at Berkeley, studying chemical engineering. Caralin Schneider will attend Washington University in St Louis, studying biochemistry.
The applications were judged on their service to community and school, response to essay questions, awards and honors, transcripts, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation. A panel from the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce evaluated each application and was very impressed with the high quality applicants.
"Town Hall" Meeting with TSA Administrator Mr. John Pistole
June 5, Wednesday, 10:30am – noon, 720 Garden Street, Community Outreach "Town Hall" Meeting with TSA Administrator Mr. John Pistole, Transportation Security Administration Administrator (TSA) John S. Pistole is traveling to the Park Ridge area to listen to members of the community about how they feel TSA is doing as an agency and to hear suggestions on how things can be improved. He will also brief participants on future plans for the Agency and his vision to make TSA a high-performing counterterrorism organization using a risk-based and intelligence driven approach to security. Pistole, former deputy director of the FBI, will engage in a frank dialogue with participants to hear their thoughts about TSA. Free parking in the parking lot behind the building.
Educational Workshop - ‘Introduction to LinkedIn for Small Business Networking and Marketing’
All are welcome to join us on June 4, Tuesday, 5:00pm – 6:00pm for an Educational Workshop - ‘Introduction to LinkedIn for Small Business Networking and Marketing’ presented by Michael Yublosky, a Resource Mentor, Workshop Presenter and Outreach Leader for SCORE. The presentation will answer the following questions: 1.Why should you as a small business person care about LinkedIn? 2. How might getting involved in LinkedIn benefit your business? 3. Chamber Educational Roundtable – Challenges of a Home-Based Business

Building Your Business-Small Office/Home Office - Our second event in the educational roundtable series will focus on those small business members in the Park Ridge Chamber and community. This interactive session will allow you to meet other professionals facing the same challenges in this unique business environment, get feedback on your ideas and learn from our panel to help you deal with your business obstacles.

Electronics Recycling Event
The City of Park Ridge, Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce and Park Ridge Park District will host a one day collection for the recycling of electronics on Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Public Works Service Center, 400 Busse Highway.
There will be a fee of $5 per car, however the Chamber of Commerce will distribute a $5 coupon good towards a $20 purchase at participating Chamber members.
Only the following items will be accepted:
•Cell phones
•All computer related-related equipment
•TV's and audio/visual equipment
•Video game consoles
•PDA's, MP3 players and radios
•DVD players and VCR's
•Fax machines
•Household batteries
•Baby monitors
•Hair dryers
•Toasters, food processors and blenders
The following items will not be accepted:
•Hazardous Waste
•Air conditioners and fans
•Refrigerators
•Microwaves ovens and stoves
•Car or acid filled batteries
•Washing machines and dryers

Chamber Scholarship for High School Seniors
2012-2013 High School Scholarship Program
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors (or GED equivalent) who are college bound (or other post-secondary institution) in 2013. The scholarship will be paid directly to the awardee’s selected post-secondary institution.
The applications are judged on their service to community and school, response to essay questions, awards and honors, transcripts, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation. The student should emphasize their areas of strength, as the committee will equally consider all candidates. Contact the Chamber at 847-825-3121 to obtain the application.
